Bridge to Affective Wellness

Personalized Mental Health Care When Traditional Treatments Aren't Enough

About Bridge to Affective Wellness

Bridge to Affective Wellness, PLLC was established in 2022 with a mission to provide innovative, evidence-based treatment options for individuals struggling with mood disorders and treatment-resistant depression.

The term affect is defined by Merriam-Webster as "the observable expression of an experienced emotion." Mood disorders can be complex, persistent, and difficult to treat, often requiring more than traditional approaches to achieve meaningful improvement.

Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) may be present when an individual has not experienced adequate relief after trying two or more antidepressant medications at therapeutic doses, or when significant side effects have prevented continued treatment. If you or a loved one have struggled to find relief despite multiple treatment attempts, specialized care may be needed.

For more than 50 years, most antidepressant medications have focused primarily on the serotonin and norepinephrine systems of the brain. Recent advancements have introduced new treatment options, including ketamine-based therapies, which work through different neurological pathways and have shown promising results for individuals with treatment-resistant depression.

Bridge to Affective Wellness offers Spravato® (esketamine), an FDA-approved treatment for adults with treatment-resistant depression. Spravato received FDA approval for this indication in 2019 and has provided new hope for patients who have not responded adequately to conventional antidepressant therapies.

What is Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD)?

Treatment-Resistant Depression is generally defined as depression that has not responded adequately to at least two antidepressant trials at appropriate doses and durations, or when medication side effects have prevented successful treatment.

What is Spravato® (Esketamine)?

Spravato® is a prescription nasal spray approved by the FDA in 2019 for the treatment of adults with treatment-resistant depression.

During treatment, patients self-administer the nasal spray under medical supervision in our office. Following administration, patients are monitored for approximately two hours to ensure safety and comfort. Because temporary side effects may occur, patients must arrange transportation home and should not drive after treatment.
